The monkeys! The place is crawling with macaques. Do not even think about leaving your balcony door open when you are not in the room, or about leaving some food on the balcony table. They will come and boldly enter the room to snatch some food.

Since the in-house service can be slow, place your order by 6:30 PM to have your dinner ready by 8:00 PM. Alcohol is generally unavailable in this area due to government regulations. This is not a party zone with liquor stores on every corner. Check the current policy with the hotel or bring your own permits if applicable.

And finally, a word about safety in the water. The river may look calm and easy to swim across but becomes deadly just a short distance from the falls where strong currents exist beneath apparently still waters on top. Don’t get into the river at some random spot. Ask your hotel staff to point out the designated safe bathing ghats where shallows-and-a-mild-current exist.
